Emma Watson named highest-earning actress of 2000s

Emma Watson(HMG) – Most 19 year old college students dream of having a future career.  But Emma Watson is celebrating being named the highest paid actress of the past decade, joining her disputed male counterpart Samuel L. Jackson.  The Guinness Book of World Records announced today that Watson tops the list of ladies ahead of Hollywood heavyweights such as Julia Roberts, Halle Berry and Cameron Diaz by grossing $5.4 billion in global box office receipts in the past ten years.

Since her first outing as Hermione as a 10-year-old in 2001, she has starred in six Harry Potter films and has amassed a 16 million fortune and was recently placed sixth on Forbes’ list of Hollywood’s Most Valuable Young Stars.

In fact, Watson’s overall work actually earned even more in ticket sales than her male Harry Potter co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint thanks to her role in the 2008 animated hit The Tale of the Despereaux.

Guinness names Samuel L. Jackson as the highest-grossing actor with a total gross of $7.42 billion, but Entertainment Weekly thinks they miscalculated and claims the real winner is Orlando Bloom, who garnered $6.5 billion in ticket sales in mega-franchises the Pirates of the Caribbean and The Lord of the Rings.

Emma will be off to a great start for the next decade as she will next appear in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2 in 2010 and 2011.
