There was tragic news out of Nashville this weekend after former NFL quarterback Steve McNair was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds on July 4. McNair who was married with four sons was found dead in his Nashville condo and the body of his girlfriend Saleh Kazemi was found nearby with one gunshot wound to the head. The couple had been dating for several months — and Kazemi’s sister, Soheyla Kazemi, told the Florida Times-Union that the two were “planning to get married.” TMZ has released photos of the couple vacationing together, but McNair and his wife never filed divorce papers. Mechelle McNair was described as “distraught” after hearing the news.

Police aren’t looking for any suspects right now because it is being investigated as a murder-suicide. Autopsy results will conclude whether or not Kazemi did in fact turn the gun on herself after killing McNair. Robert Gaddy, a friend of McNair and the man who called 911 after finding the bodies, said of the tragedy (and adultery scandal):  “People have certain things that they do in life. We don’t need to look on the situation at this time (but) on the fact we just lost a great member of society.”

Steve “Air” McNair led the Tennesee Titans to the playoffs four times and the Super Bowl once. He also played for the Baltimore Ravens. McNair is pictured above in his Alcorn State college uniform. [Source: Associated Press: Photo: Getty Images]
